Type 316 stainless steel (A4) screws are more corrosion resistant then 18-8 stainless steel, yet have the same tensile strength and are nonmagnetic. They withstand many industrial chemicals and solvents, even the pitting caused by chlorides and sulfides. Length is measured from under the head.

These 18-8 stainless steel (A2) screws offer excellent corrosion resistance. They may be mildly magnetic. Rockwell hardness is a minimum of B70. Minimum tensile strenght is 70,000 psi. The length is measured from under head.

Comparable to US Grade 8, Class 10.9 bolts are generally used for the same application. These are made from either a medium carbon or an alloy steel and have a black finish. Manufacturer and strength class are marked on the top of the head. Minimum tensile strength is 150,000 psi. Bolts are threaded at least two times their diameter + 6mm. Length is measured from under the head.

DIN 933/931 (Standard Pitch) and DIN 961/960 (Special Pitch). Property Class 8.8 is comparable to Grade 5, and may be used for similar applications. Made from medium carbon steel, these bolts are heat treated, Zinc plated, and have the manufacture and strength class marked on the head. Minimum tensile strength for diameters up to m16 is 116,000 psi, for diameters greater than M16, it is 120,000 psi. Length is measured from under the head.
